A quilting hobby becomes a practice when it becomes something you return to with intention.

And sometimes that intention can get muddied up by expectations…whether the expectations are self imposed or imposed by others.

If part of what keeps you from carving out time to quilt is an overwhelming sense of responsibility to everyone but you, I invite you to challenge those expectations for a little while every day. I have no doubt that you have earned it. 💟

I had a tiny personal existential crisis this week and almost lost my sew-jo. I got ahead of myself, was bullying myself into biting off more than I could chew and telling myself all or nothing stories about what I ought to be doing. And for a minute I could feel myself start to crash out over some impossible standard I had set for myself that no one asked for. What ended up stopping the spiral was realizing that it was robbing me of my joy. So I made the conscious decision to step in and take my joy back.

I’m really excited about this week’s pattern and I can’t wait to share it with you 💌

So, I decided not to finish an entire quilt in 4 days for the first time in several weeks (lol) and rework the color palette instead. Of course that means I ran out of time this week to make a second sample quilt, but I know you’ll understand. 🤍

The finished quilt measures 60” x 63”.

For the backing fabric you will need 4 yards assuming 4 inches of overage and for the binding you will need 1/2 yard assuming 2 1/2 inch binding strips.

The fabrics used in the cover quilt are Pure Solids and they are listed for you on slide 2. ✨

The finished quilt measures 64” x 72” - the perfect topper for my queen sized bed.

For backing fabric you will need 4 1/2 yards assuming 4 inches for overage and the binding is included in the fabric allowance for the quilt top (instructions for scrappy binding are in the carousel). If you would like to use a different fabric for binding, you will need 1/2 yards assuming 2 1/2 inch binding strips.
